The Mass Casualty Commission is an independent public inquiry created to examine the April 18-19, 2020 mass casualty in Nova Scotia.

We are currently in our fact-finding phase. We have a team of independent investigators who are working diligently to gather the facts of what happened on April 18 and 19, 2020. We are collecting and analyzing thousands of documents, and conducting numerous interviews with witnesses and others with information related to the events.

Our investigators have a trauma-informed approach, which means we are going about our work in a way that is collaborative, brings people to the table, and attempts to minimize further harm, knowing that what happened is traumatic to so many.

The goal of our work is enhanced public safety, and our team wants to ensure that no stone is left unturned. If community members have facts related to the events we want to hear them. There is no fact too small. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that members of the public know the ways in which they can communicate information to the Commission, and in particular, to our investigators.

If anyone has information relating to what happened on April 18 and/or 19, 2020, please contact us to set up time to speak with one of our investigators:
